From the evening of April 6 to 04:30 on April 7, the Armenian armed forces units from the positions stationed in the directions of Gorus, Garakilsa, Basarkechar, Keshishkand, Tovuzgala and Chambarak regions using small arms periodically subjected the Azerbaijan Army positions to intense fire.

On April 5, an official meeting was convened under the leadership of Azerbaijan Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.The official meeting in a video teleconference format involved Deputy Ministers, Commanders of types of troops (forces), Chiefs of Main Departments, Departments and Services, Commanders of army corps and formations, as well as Heads of the National Defense University and subordinate educational institutions.The meeting commenced with commemorating the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Motherland.Emphasizing that the army development is one of the priority issues, as stated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the Minister of Defense delivered to the meeting participants tasks regarding the enhancement of service and combat activities of the units, as well as further increasing their combat capabilities set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.The Minister of Defense stated that the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, emphasizing that the historic victory had paved the way for peace negotiations, praised the professionalism demonstrated by the Azerbaijan Army, particularly during the 44-day Patriotic War and subsequent military operations, thereby setting more responsible tasks before the Army.The meeting addressed the current operational situation along the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional border, including the recent regular shelling of the Azerbaijan Army units by the opposing side, as well as attempts to conduct reconnaissance flights using unmanned aerial vehicles and drones over the positions.

A delegation led by Vice-rector for international military and inter-university cooperation of University of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Srdjan Ljubojević visited the National Defense University, Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev and Military Lyceum named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski.

According to the annual action plan approved by the Minister of Defense, a number of events on the occasion of 9th anniversary of the Victory in the April battles in 2016 were held in types of troops, army corps and formations, as well as in special educational institutions of the Azerbaijan Army.

On April 2, starting from 13:55 to 14:05, the Armenian armed forces units from the positions located in the direction of Istisu settlement of Keshishkand region using small arms periodically subjected to fire the Azerbaijan Army positions.

9 years have passed since the April battles, the beginning of the path to the glorious Victory.

On April 1, remembrance ceremonies were held in the Second Alley of Shehids on the occasion of the birthdays of Azerbaijan National Hero Colonel Shukur Hamidov and Lieutenant Colonel Sadi Musayev, who became Shehids in the 44-day Patriotic War.A group of officers of the Defense Ministry, employees of the Gubadli Region Executive Power, family members, comrades-in-arms, schoolchildren, and other guests attended the ceremonies.The graves of the Shehids were visited, wreaths and flowers were laid, and tribute was paid to their memory.The memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and Shehids, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan, was honored with a minute of silence.

From 17:00 on March 31 to 04:45 on April 1, the Armenian armed forces units from the positions located in the directions of Zarkand, Zod, Ashaghi Shorja, Yukhari Shorja, Istisu, Khanazakh and Khaznavar settlements of Basarkechar and Gorus regions using small arms periodically subjected to fire the Azerbaijan Army positions.

On March 31, at about 11:10, the Azerbaijan Army positions were subjected to fire with the use of small arms from the positions of the Armenian armed forces located in the direction of the Bazarchay settlement of the Garakilsa region.

Under the instruction of the Azerbaijan Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, commemorative events on 31 March – the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis were held in the Azerbaijan Army.
