Land Forces were established within the Azerbaijan Army by the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, dated June 29, 2021.
As the largest type of troops of the Azerbaijan Army, the Land Forces ensure the defense of the country’s land territories and fulfill combat tasks during war and military operations.
The primary mission of the Land Forces is to protect the country’s land territories from enemy attacks. The Land Forces engage in combat during wartime and military operations, perform duties related to the country’s armed defense in peacetime, and take part in international exercises.
The Land Forces operate in coordination with the Army’s other types of troops (Air Forces, Naval Forces and Special Forces).
The Land Forces include tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery and other military equipment, as well as military personnel.
The Land Forces are composed of army corps and formations. They are structured into army corps and various subordinate formations (military units), including motorized rifle, armored, commando, artillery, and support units under their command.
Courses, competitions, and training events organized within the Land Forces:
- a course for a long-term active military service servicemen personnel conducted with candidates selected from reservists and active military service servicemen;
- Commando initial and commando training courses;
- 1st and 2nd degree sniper training courses;
- commander training sessions;
- specialist sessions;
- artillery camp sessions.
