I'd like to sign up for the Defense Minister's audience. How do I do that?

You can sign up for an audience with any of the high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense, Republic of Azerbaijan, every day from 14.00 to 18.00 (except for week-ends,public holidays and national mourning days) at the H. Aslanov Central Officers' Club of the Ministry of Defense at 12 S. Vurgun street, Baku (near the Sahil metro station).

How do I go about signing up for the warrant officer and extended military service training?

Any serviceman willing to sign up for the warrant officer and extended military service training may either apply to the commanding officers of the military base where they wish to serve or the Training Center of the Armed Forces.

Whenever a vacancy opens up at a military base or specalists are required, such requests will be considered and servicemen will be enlisted for active duty.

 

Ex-servicemen (soldiers, seamen or ensigns) who were discharged dishonorably or relieved from active duty to reserve due to a criminal record or any acts unbecoming or untoward while in voluntary military service are requested to refrain from re-applying for re-enlistment for extended service. 

What do I need to do to enlist for extended service?

How do I go about getting assigned a disability category due to illness?

In order to get assigned a disability category due to illness you need to apply to the Medical and Social Expert Commission of the district / region you're registered in.

What do I need to do to get the statutory insurance recompense assigned for the families of killed servicemen?

Under the Law of Azerbaijan on State-Mandated Personal Insurance of the Military, Article 3, the insurer of the military is a public insurance agency. Clause 2 of the Presidential Decree concerning enforcement of said Law appoints the State Insurance Commercial Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the entity responsible for discharging the functions and responsibilities of the “public insurance agency” as identified in Article 3 of the Law.

Hence, the State Insurance Commercial Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan is directly responsible for addressing any matters related to statutory insurance payouts to deceased servicemen's families. 

 

Given all of this, you should apply to the State Insurance Commercial Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan in this regard.

How much is the statutory insurance payout to deceased servicemen's families?

Under the Law of Azerbaijan on State-Mandated Insurance of the Military, Article 4, each serviceman is assigned an insurance premium of 11 000 AZN.

 

Under Article 5, sub-clause 'a' of the law, if the insured (serviceman)dies in active duty, their heirs will be entitled to the full (100%) amount of the insurance premium (11 000 AZN) if a court judgement has declared such insured deceased when they are considered KIA or MIA.

What is the age limit for enlistment?

In response to an electronic request regarding military service we hereby acknowledge that pursuant to the Military Service Regulations, Article 26, sub-clause 'a', servicemen who have completed active military duty as identified by the existing law, military under 40 (excepting officers, warrant officers and ensigns), as well as females from 19 to 40 years of age can be enlisted to extended active duty as soldiers, seamen and sergeants.

 

Pursuant to Article 26, sub-clause 'b' of the same, soldiers, seamen, sergeants who have completed at least a year of active duty, servicemen under 40 (except officers), as well as females from 19 to 40 years of age can be enlisted for active duty as warrant officers and ensigns.

How do I go about obtaining an archive record confirming that my father was in the war?

You should apply to the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense indicating the military base / unit your father served in and the years of his service in order to obtain such an extract. Address: Baku, Bilajari settlement.

What do I need to do to get cash compensation instead of property?

In order to get cash compensation instead of property you need to file an application along with relevant documents via mail at 3 Parliament Avenue, Ministry of Defense, Department of Affairs, AZ 1073, Baku.

Where and how do we learn about the recompense calculation and payment procedures for unused vacation entitlement of servicemen relieved from active duty to reserve or discharged from duty?

The Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov's Ordinance identifies the procedures for calculating and paying the compensation of unused vacation entitlement for the calendar years of the service for servicemen who were relieved from active duty to reserve or discharged from February 1, 1994 to June 12, 2010 (other than those who were on term active duty).

Pursuant to the Ordinance, relevant commissions consisting of executive officials will be responsible for document collection, recompense calculation and payment proceedings.

Servicemen willing to get compensated for unused vacation entitlement may only apply via mail to the military base or unit they served at, or, if such base or unit is liquidated, to a higher instance of such base or unit.

What do I need to do to enlist with the Special Forces?

You can only join a team of Special Forces if you bring up this matter with the commanding officers of the military base or unit during your active duty term, expressing your desire to serve in the Special Forces, subject to your eligibility and qualification.

How can reserve or retired servicemen receive compensation for the payment of renting a temporary apartment?

According to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 174 dated August 6, 2012 "On establishing the amount and procedure for paying the cost of renting temporary housing for certain categories of citizens discharged from the military service into the reserve or retired", the payment of monetary compensation for the rental of temporary housing to officers, warrant officers and midshipmen who have served 5 calendar years and have been discharged from the military service into the reserve or retired due to staff reductions, by age, illness, or marital status, must be paid by local executive authorities prior to acquisition of apartments or land for the construction of a private house.
