The Military Administration Institute is a special higher educational institution subordinated to the National Defense University, which is under the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, carrying out additional education programs and training at the Master's degree level of higher education, as well as conducting theoretical and methodological, pedagogical and methodological and scientific research.
The purpose of the Military Administration Institute is to train officers with higher military education at the Master's degree level of higher education for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, conduct scientific-research work in the field of military sciences, and train personnel for additional education.
The Military Administration Institute is the legal successor of the War College of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The War College of the Armed Forces was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev dated February 20, 1999, with the aim of training commanders, staff officers, and military scientific staff with higher military education for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, improving their qualifications, conducting scientific research in the field of military art and training state bodies’ officials on military-strategic, military-economic and military-political issues related to the defense of the republic.
The main activities of the Military Administration Institute are educational, teaching and educational, methodical, and scientific-research works.
The War College has played an exceptional role in the training of officers with higher military education for the Armed Forces, possessing military-theoretical and military-practical knowledge, having an intellectual mindset, for service in command, staff, and other positions in the military control bodies of operational-strategic and operational-tactical levels.
Officers and warrant officers of the War College participated in the Second Karabakh War, which began on September 27, 2020. 4 of those servicemen suffered injuries of varying severity and became ghazis. More than 53 servicemen of the War College were awarded orders and medals for their courage.
After the 44-day Patriotic War, important steps were taken in army development to improve the experience, knowledge, and skills acquired by the Azerbaijan Army during the war.
Thus, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated March 5, 2022, No. 1626, the Military Administration Institute was established on the basis of the War College of the Armed Forces and transferred to the subordination of the National Defense University in order to improve the activities of the network of special educational institutions.
The educational work organized at the Military Administration Institute aimed at the training of officers with higher military education, possessing military-theoretical and military-practical knowledge, having an intellectual mindset, for service in command, staff positions, and other positions in military control bodies of operational-strategic and operational-tactical levels, the planning and conducting all types of practical classes, the management of coursework and, diploma work, as well as the assessment of students' assimilation of educational material.
The academic course of Strategic Studies and State Defense Management and Foreign Languages Center function under the Military Administration Institute. The objective of the courses is to ensure the study of military-strategic, military-economic, and military-political issues related to the defense of the republic.
The development of servicemen's communication skills in foreign languages (on demand) and the improvement of their abilities are carried out in foreign language courses.
