The Republic of Azerbaijan is a party to the "Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe" (CFE) and the "Vienna Document on Security and Confidence-Building Measures" (VD) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and fulfills various obligations.
For this purpose, the Republic of Azerbaijan participates in the annual exchange of information about its armed forces and based on the provided information receives inspections from the participating states, as well as can conduct inspections in other participating states.
CFE Treaty was approved by the Resolution No. 164 "On Approval of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe" of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on June 10, 1992.
The Republic of Azerbaijan joined to the adopted CFE Treaty by the law No. 295-IQ "On Accession to the Document Agreed on May 31, 1996 by the States Parties of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe of the Republic of Azerbaijan " on May 16, 1997.
There are 136 inspections were conducted by the participating states in the Republic of Azerbaijan until January 1, 2023.
The Republic of Azerbaijan joined to the "Vienna Document on Security and Confidence-Building Measures" at the meeting of the Organization of the Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) - former Council for Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) on March 4, 1992 in Vienna.
According to the Security Council's decision FSC.DEC/14/11 Vienna Document was re-adopted by the Republic of Azerbaijan at the 665th special meeting of the OSCE Security Cooperation Forum (FSC), on November 30, 2011, in Vienna.
There are 73 inspections and 34 evaluations were conducted by the participating states in the Republic of Azerbaijan until January 1, 2023.
