On January 30, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, and the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Yunus Emre Karaosmanoglu took part in the opening ceremony of the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center constructed in the territory of liberated from the occupation Aghdam region.
The ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Center was cut with the participation of the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, and the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey.
The participants of the ceremony were informed in detail about the area of the Joint Center, as well as the modular administrative, service, and living premises based on a general plan.
Afterward, the guests got acquainted with the monitoring Center and briefing room in the area. They were briefed on the objectives, activities, duties, and tasks of the joint Center. It was noted that the main mission of the Center located in the Aghdam region is to control the implementation of the articles of the joint statement signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Russian Federation, and the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia, and the agreements reached until the present.
After the briefing, the guests arrived at the parade ground. The national anthems of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Turkey were played, and then a meeting was held with the Center’s military personnel.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan Colonel General Z. Hasanov expressed hope that the joint Center would contribute to ensuring long-term peace in the region and wished success to its military personnel in their future activities.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel General A. Fomin and Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Y. E. Karaosmanoglu thanked the Azerbaijani side for the work done to provide the full operation of the joint Center and the conditions created at the Center. It was noted that the Center would adequately cope with the duties and tasks ahead, as well as ensure peace and stability in the region.
Then, the ceremony participants got acquainted with the infrastructure created in the Center, where they inspected the modular premises installed for military personnel. It was noted that the building of the Center and the modular dormitory, gym, canteen, bathroom and laundry, a medical point located in the area are provided with the necessary equipment, furniture, communication lines, heating system, water pipelines, power lines, and other facilities. There is car parking on the territory.
After getting acquainted with the Center, the guests had lunch together with the military personnel.
The event ended with the planting of trees in the Alley of Turkish-Russian friendship and taking a group photo.
