The heroism of the sons of Azerbaijan in the liberation of Belarus will never be forgotten

The brave sons and daughters of Azerbaijan fought on all fronts of the Great Patriotic War and demonstrated great courage and heroism. Thousands of Azerbaijani heroes also took part in the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazis, fought valiantly and courageously. Despite the passing of years, the names of the brave sons of Azerbaijan are cherished today in our country, as well as in the countries where they fought and died for the freedom, and their memories are honored.
A commemoration ceremony dedicated to the memory of Azerbaijanis who took part in the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War was held at the Museum of Military History of Azerbaijan. The ceremony was attended by employees of the Museum of Military History, members of the public, journalists, and guests from the Republic of Belarus.
The commemoration ceremony began with the performance of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Belarus. The memory of heroes fallen during the Great Patriotic War and the struggle for the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis was honored with observing a minute of silence.
 Retired Colonel Azizagha Gani-zade, Chief of the Museum of Military History of Azerbaijan, spoke in detail about the heroism of the sons of Azerbaijan in the battles for the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis, noting that more than twenty thousand Azerbaijanis fought for the freedom of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. 14 of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as other orders and medals. It was stressed that from the first days of the war the Azerbaijanis showed courage and heroism in defending Belarus. Azerbaijanis were among those fallen in the battles for the Brest Fortress. The Belarusians, along with other nations who died for the freedom of their Motherland, always cherish the memory of the brave sons of Azerbaijan. Busts of Soviet heroes Hazi Aslanov, Aslan Vazirov, Najafgulu Rafiyev, and others have been erected in the city of Mogilev.
Then Professor Jabi Bahramov, Doctor of Historical Sciences Nurulla Aliyev, Doctor of Philosophy in History Haji Hasanov, and others spoke about the courage and heroism of the sons of Azerbaijan demonstrated during the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis.
The guests from Belarus, journalists Larisa Kucherova and Dmitry Koshebar noted the importance of the event and thanked for the kind words.
In the end, the guests were presented with books about the Great Patriotic War and a video "The sons of Azerbaijan in the defense of Belarus".
The guests also got acquainted with the exhibits of the Azerbaijan Military History Museum.
