On March 1, the leadership of the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry attended the event on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev.
Before the event, Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov got acquainted with the conditions created in the newly commissioned sports complex in the territory of the military institute.
The Defense Minister was reported about all conditions created in the complex to further improve the physical training of cadets, as well as doing all sports.
Then the event dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the military institute was held.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Shehids, who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was honored with observing a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.
Rector of the institute, Major General Fizuli Salahov gave detailed information about the history, and main activities of the institute, as well as the achievements of graduates.
It was noted that the heroism of the graduates of the institute has always been highly appreciated, seven of them were awarded the title of "Azerbaijan National Hero", 46 of them – "Hero of the Patriotic War", and 43 graduates were awarded the higher military rank of "General".
Defense Minister Colonel General Z. Hasanov spoke at the event held with the participation of officers, cadets and teaching staff of the military institute.
In his speech, the Minister of Defense spoke about the reforms carried out in the army under the command of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the importance of training of professional personnel and the work done in the field of military education. It was noted that the acceptance of modern, new generation weapons and military equipment of the most advanced armies into the armament of the Azerbaijan Army is under the personal supervision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The Minister emphasized that the establishment of the center operational control system and the presence of new commando military units with high combat capability are the results of ongoing reforms in the army, he also noted that new approaches, more effective methods, and modern military innovations are being applied in army development.
The Minister noted the historical significance of the victory gained in the Patriotic War, and emphasized that the Supreme Commander-in-Chief highly appreciated the heroism and bravery shown by the graduates of the Military Institute in the battles.
It was noted that the adaptation of the training program of military specialists to the programs applied in the military schools of the National Defense University of the Republic of Türkiye is one of the important steps taken for training professional officers of the Azerbaijan Army.
Colonel General Z. Hasanov wished the cadets success in their studies and future services and gave specific instructions to relevant officials to organize a military education system at a better quality and high level.
After the event, Defense Minister had lunch with cadets, inquired about their concerns, and answered their questions.
