On February 1, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who is on a working visit to Türkiye, met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Hulusi Akar.
A welcoming ceremony was held before the meeting, the defense ministers of the two countries passed along the guard of honor and the national anthems were performed.
Colonel General Z. Hasanov signed the Book of Honor.
Then a meeting with the participation of delegations was held.
The working meetings discussed regional security, as well as prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in military, military-technical, military-educational, and other spheres.
Welcoming the guests, the Turkish Minister stressed that the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is based on friendly and fraternal relations. Mr. H. Akar expressed confidence that cooperation based on mutual trust and support will continue to develop successfully.
In turn, Colonel General Z. Hasanov expressed gratitude for the moral and political support provided by fraternal Türkiye during the Patriotic War. The Azerbaijan Defense Minister stressed the exceptional impact of the sincere relations between the heads of the two fraternal countries on military cooperation, as well as in other spheres.
Touching upon the importance of the experience gained by servicemen in joint exercises, the parties noted the significance of holding such events regularly.
During the meetings, it was noted that Azerbaijan is expanding military cooperation with Türkiye to increase its defense power.
This is one of the main factors ensuring stability in the region.
