Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has celebrated the 25th anniversary of the creation of the first military unit.
Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov and Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov took part in the celebrative event. Vasif Talibov congratulated participants of the event and servicemen. Defense Minister Hasanov emphasized that Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev is committed to national leader Heydar Aliyev`s army building policy.
The event was followed by a military parade marking the 25th anniversary of Independence Day. The military parade involved 2,000 servicemen, more than 160 armoured vehicles and weapon systems, including more than 10 helicopters and airplanes.
Later the same day chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov and Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov attended the launch of a new education and training center of the separate regular army.
Vasif Talibov presented servicemen with “For services to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” and “For valiant labour” insignia.
Minister Hasanov handed “For bravery” and “For distinction in military service” medals of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree to a group of servicemen for their achievements in combat training and performance of duties and tasks. He also presented extraordinary military ranks to several servicemen.
