On December 21, the extended session of the Defence Ministry Board on the results of preparation of troops in 2016 was held under the leadership of the Minister of Defence, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov.
The memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and heroic sons who died for the territorial integrity of the country was honored in a minute of silence.
Reports of officers on the activities undertaken during the reporting period, the work carried out in the sphere of military posture and the actions of the activity were heard as well as long-term issues were discussed at the session of the Board.
Minister of Defence, speaking with an extended report in the session, highlighted the assessment, care and attention rendered by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev to the Azerbaijani army and said that the achievements obtained from the April battles, conducted under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief are a result of the power of our state and army as well as solidarity and patriotism of the people. He also spoke about the achievements of recent years.
Minister, analyzing measures undertaken during the reporting period, gave relevant instructions for the command staff to fulfill the tasks of the Armed Forces in 2017, in order to expand the service and combat activities, continue the reforms, improve combat readiness, morale and psychological state of military personnel, comprehensive provision of defence system, and increase fighting capability of the troops.
Then the draft decision of the session Board was discussed and adopted.
According to the order of the Minister of Defence, various medals, gratitude, diplomas and valuable gifts were awarded to the servicemen for distinguished service based on the results of combat readiness in 2016.
