On January 19, the Training and Educational Center of the Azerbaijan Army hosted a meeting of the persons responsible for communication of the Defense Ministry with journalists and experts who prepare news and write articles on military topics.
Representatives of the press services of the Defense Ministry, the Media Development Agency, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Republican Military Prosecutor's Office, journalists, military experts, and other guests attended the meeting.
The event commenced with the commemoration of memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, the Shehids (Martyrs) of 20 January who sacrificed their lives for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, as well as martyred journalists. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.
A report of the Communication Strategy approved by the relevant decision of the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov was presented by the representatives of the of the Main Department for Personnel of the Ministry of Defense, and a video containing an overview of the combat training events implemented in the Azerbaijan Army in 2023 was demonstrated.
It was reported that during 2023, the Azerbaijan Army held 143 tactical-special, 261 tactical, 8 tactical flight, 7 ship-battle, 4 command-staff mobilization exercises, Commando Initial and sniper training courses. Azerbaijan Army’s servicemen participated in 21 international exercises held in different countries.
The report stated that a total of 955 pieces of information, 4224 photos and 403 video materials regarding the coverage of events and the implementation of the Ministry's communication strategy were shared on the official website and social media accounts of the Defense Ministry during 2023. 854 pieces of information were translated into Russian and English.
During the year, using the material and technical base of the Azerbaijan Army, 186 letters addressed by media entities for the purpose of filming were executed.
11 state institutions, 160 local media entities, 6 public associations, 9 production companies, radios, foreign media and media centers participated in the filming organized based on the applications.
Besides, 26 media tours with the participation of 347 representatives of 171 media entities to military units were organized. Filming on various topics was organized here and daily activities of military personnel were presented to journalists. 91 inquiries by media representatives were answered.
Considering the importance making a direct statement to the public by the army leadership, it was noted that 3 interviews and a press conference of the Defense Minister were organized during the current year.
1437 posts were made on official social media accounts of the Ministry: 1437 on Instagram, 1478 on Facebook, 1593 on X (Twitter), 1567 on Telegram, and 446 on YouTube.
During the meeting, prospective plans were discussed to further develop mutual relations with media entities and increase efficiency. The necessity of not allowing the dissemination of the information of state importance, its preventing and joint struggle to protect military and state secrets was pointed out.  
At the end of the event, suggestions from media representatives on the development of joint cooperation were heard.
