On the occasion of 26 June - Armed Forces Day and the 106th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Army, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and a group of servicemen visited the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Shehids.
First, a wreath was laid at the monument to the National Leader on the Alley of Honor and his blessed memory was honored.
The Defense Ministry’s leadership laid roses on the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and paid tribute to her memory.
Then the Alley of Shehids was visited. Flowers were laid on the graves of our compatriots who became Shehids in the battles for the sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
The Second Alley of Shehids was also visited, flowers were laid on the graves of Shehids who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and their bright memory was honored.
Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and other high-ranking officers met with the families and relatives of Shehids and enquired about their needs.
