Paying an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, Defence Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Spain Ignacio Ibanez Rubio.
At the meeting, which expressed satisfaction with the current state of the Azerbaijani-Spanish cooperation, in particular the level of relations in the political sphere, Colonel General Z.Hasanov informed the Spanish side of the last tension occurred on the line of contact of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, the provocations of Armenian armed forces and their consequences, as well as the last negotiations on the settlement of the conflict. The Minister noted that in order to achieve a solution of the conflict, Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories and stop the fact of military aggression.
Secretary of State, in turn, brought to the attention that his country supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
The sides expressed interest of the two countries in mutual fruitful cooperation within the UN, OSCE, NATO, Council of Europe, European Union and other international organizations. In addition, the importance of development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Spain in the fight against terrorism and separatism, as well as mutual support in these issues was stressed.
