On May 26, the First Deputy of Defence Minister – Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel-General Najmaddin Sadikov met with the delegation led by the US Army Europe commander, Lieutenant-General Frederick Ben Hodges.
Chief of General Staff informed the guest about the latest escalation of tension on the line of contact of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, in particular, about the causes of violations of ceasefire, the Armenian armed forces' provocations committed against us and their consequences.
Lieutenant-General B.Hodges thanked for the hospitality and expressed the hope that this meeting will prepare the ground for the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States Army Europe.
During the meeting the issues regarding to military and political situation in the region, successful cooperation in international peacekeeping missions, as well as issues related to the spheres of military education, training and mutual exchange of experience were discussed.
