On May 30, the First Deputy of Defence Minister – Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel-General Najmaddin Sadikov met with paying visit to our country delegation headed by Secretary of Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Mohammad Hanif Atmar.
Welcoming the guests, the Chief of the General Staff emphasized the important role of heads of the two states in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, noting that the relations in the military sphere are also developing successfully and have wide opportunities.
Referring to the military-political situation in the region, Colonel-General N.Sadikov informed the guests about the latest escalation of tension on the line of contact of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, and the reasons for violations of the ceasefire.
Expressing satisfaction with the visit to our country the guest, in turn, noted that Azerbaijan and Afghanistan have always supported each other within the framework of international organizations, and expressed his gratitude for the assistance to Afghanistan in various fields, as well as for the contribution made by the Azerbaijani servicemen in peacekeeping mission.
