On November 25, Azerbaijan Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Azerbaijan Bert Skufs.
At the meeting, minister, emphasizing activities aimed at strengthening military cooperation and mutual trust between Azerbaijan and Belgium, as in many spheres, as well as the contribution of the two countries on regional security, wished the Ambassador success in his diplomatic activity.
Minister of Defence, noting the relations between Azerbaijan and NATO within the framework of various programs, including the program "Partnership for Peace", recalled the active participation of our country in non-combat "Resolute Support" mission held in Afghanistan.
Diplomat, in turn, stressed that the Kingdom of Belgium, as well as NATO and other international organizations supports the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. The Ambassador emphasized that he supports peaceful solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The sides discussed issues of regional security, joint fight against terrorism and issues of partnership in other spheres, as well as exchanged views on the prospects of development of military ties between the two countries.
