The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who is on an official visit in Beijing, has met with Colonel General Xu Qiliang, Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
Having greeted the Azerbaijani delegation, Xu Qiliang noted that the friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries, which have been in existence for centuries, are currently developing fast. Noting China's support for the development path chosen by the Azerbaijani people, Xu Qiliang added that his country is pleased with the successes of Azerbaijan.
The Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission noted the relations between the two countries established through the historic Silk Road, as well as the creation of new opportunities for deepening this cooperation with the One Belt One Road Initiative.
Stressing the importance of cooperation in the military sphere as well as in other areas, Xu Qiliang noted the great potential for expanding ties.
Expressing gratitude for attention and warm meeting, Colonel General Z. Hasanov emphasized that the PRC plays a huge role in the fight against terrorism, separatism and transnational crime, including in maintaining peace and stability throughout the world. Along with this, China actively participates in international peacekeeping operations. Azerbaijan, with the most capable and equipped army in the South Caucasus, also contributes to peacekeeping operations both in the world and in the region for establishing peace and stability.
The Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan expressed his gratitude to the Chinese side for supporting Azerbaijan's fair position in settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Defense Minister stressed that Azerbaijan respects the "United China" policy of the People's Republic of China, supports this concept and recognizes organizations representing the PRC in the international arena.
Noting that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan cooperates with some corporations and companies of the People's Republic of China, which produce military products, Colonel General Z. Hasanov emphasized that mutual visits, as well as expert meetings, are carried out on a permanent basis within the framework of this cooperation.
The minister expressed confidence that the meetings and negotiations held within the framework of the visit contribute to the development of relations between the armies of the two countries.
During the meeting held in a friendly and mutually trusting atmosphere, issues of regional security in the South Caucasus and East Asia, the state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in the military, military-technical, military-educational spheres were discussed.
It should be pointed out that the Central Military Commission is the supreme governing body of China's Armed Forces. The head of the council is Xi Jinping, Chairman of the People's Republic of China, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
