On November 5, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with a delegation led by the Second Chief of the Turkish General Staff, Corps General Metin Gurak that is visiting our country to participate in the 12th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue.
The Minister of Defense recalling that relations between our countries are built on the basis of friendship and mutual trust stressed that Azerbaijan is expanding its cooperation with Turkey in the military, military-technical, military-educational fields to build up military power, which is the main factor providing stability in the region.
The Minister of Defense wishing the mercy of the Almighty Allah to the souls of all shehids (martyrs) who died for the prosperity of the Turkish people in the fight against terrorism and the speedy recovery of the wounded brought to the attention that Azerbaijan, as a country fighting separatism, fully supports Turkey.
Defense Minister noted that military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey is conducting on a bilateral basis and within the framework of NATO programs. The Minister emphasized that the strategic partnership of Azerbaijan and Turkey built on friendly and fraternal relations is constantly developing.
In turn, the Corps General M. Gurak expressed satisfaction with friendly and fraternal relations, including the level of effective cooperation between our countries. The guest expressed gratitude to Colonel General Z. Hasanov for organizing a regular meeting of the Azerbaijani and Turkish servicemen in Baku.
During the meeting that discussed the latest developments in the region where our countries are located, an exchange of views was held on conducting joint military exercises in the Azerbaijani-Turkish bilateral format with the involvement of various types of troops, including special forces of Pakistan, Georgia and Turkic-speaking states, organization of mutual visits of servicemen to exchange experience, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
