The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Azerbaijan, Mr. Mohammad Tagi Khalili on October 26.
The Minister of Defense, emphasizing the role of the heads of states in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, stressed the successful continuation of bilateral relations in the military sphere.
Ambassador M.Khalili, noting that our countries always support each other's positions in various international organizations, expressed gratitude for the contribution of Azerbaijani servicemen to the peacekeeping mission being conducted in Afghanistan.
Noting the importance for his country of an agreement between the ministries of defense of Azerbaijan and Afghanistan on the training of Afghan servicemen in special educational institutions of the Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry according to the instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Mr. Khalili expressed gratitude on behalf of his state and people.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of bilateral relations, prospects for military cooperation, particularly in the field of military education, and exchanged views on regional security and defense issues.
