The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who is on a visit to Georgia, visited the monument to the Great Leader in Heydar Aliyev Park in Tbilisi on May 21 and laid a wreath at the monument.
Then, at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia, the minister met with the leadership of the Council of Elders and representatives of the community in this country, as well as with the parents and relatives of the heroes who became shehids (martyrs) for the liberation of our lands. The Minister conveyed greetings of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev to the compatriots and noted the constant attention and concern to them from the Azerbaijani state.
Colonel General Z. Hasanov emphasized that among the heroic sons of the Motherland, who gave their lives for the liberation of the territories, there are also people born and raised in Georgia. Some of them were awarded orders and medals. One of the compatriots, born in the village of Zol-Gyuvedzh, Bolnisi district, Elshan Mammadov was awarded the Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan "For Bravery".
The minister handed the medal to the father of martyr Vagif Mammadov. The father of martyr noted that they are proud of their son and constantly feel the attention and care of the Azerbaijani state, personally the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He concluded his speech with the words "Long live the Motherland".
Colonel General Z. Hasanov presented a memorable gift of the Ministry of Defense to Vagif Musazade, the uncle of Tabriz Musazade, the pilot, who became martyr during the April battles of last year and received the "Azerbaijani Flag" order. He was from the village of Yagublu in Dmanisi district.
The Azerbaijan Ambassador to Georgia Dursun Hasanov also attended the meeting.
