On September 13, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov had a telephone conversation with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Lieutenant General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri.
The sides exchanged detailed views on the state and security issues in the region.
Lieutenant General M.H. Bagheri, in his turn, emphasized that information disseminated by some sources that Iran is allegedly gathering manpower and military equipment to the border with Azerbaijan, and conducting various exercises, is completely unfounded. He added that such information is aimed at undermining the existing friendly and neighborly relations between the two countries.
During the telephone conversation, the sides also discussed the prospects for the development of military cooperation between the two countries.
