On January 30, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Yunus Emre Karaosmanoglu, who is on a visit to our country to take part in the opening ceremony of the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center.
Noting the eternity and inviolability of the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood, Defense Minister Colonel General Z. Hasanov stressed that the military cooperation between the two countries, based on friendly and fraternal relations, is successfully developing and strengthening. Stressing that friendly relations between the heads of our states played an important role in the development of relationships between the two countries, Colonel General Z. Hasanov noted that they also positively influenced the strengthening and development of Azerbaijani-Turkish military and military-technical cooperation.
Colonel General Z. Hasanov noted that the Second Karabakh War, which went down in history as the Patriotic War, ended with a glorious victory of the Azerbaijan Army, and our lands were liberated from occupation within 44 days. Emphasizing the great importance of the Turkish moral support in ending the war with the glorious victory of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Defense thanked the leadership and people of Turkey.
The Minister of Defense expressed hope that the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center deployed in the Aghdam region of Azerbaijan will control the implementation of the agreements reached and contribute to ensuring long-term peace in the region effectively carrying out its activities.
In turn, the Deputy Minister of National Defense of Turkey congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the victory in the Patriotic War, wished the mercy of Allah Almighty to the souls of all servicemen and civilians who died as Shehid and healing to the wounded.
Mr. Y.E. Karaosmanoglu thanked the Azerbaijani side for the work done to provide the full operation of the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center and for the conditions created at the center. The Deputy Minister of National Defense of Turkey expressed confidence that the center, carrying out activities as intended, would cope with the duties and tasks ahead, as well as ensure peace and stability in the region.
The Deputy Minister of National Defense of Turkey expressed satisfaction with the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey and confidence in the development of further cooperation.
The sides, stressing that military ties in the interests of both countries noted the necessity to build up efforts in this direction, in particular in the field of military-technical cooperation and conducting joint exercises. It was noted that the military exercises between Azerbaijan and Turkey along with increasing the level of professionalism of the military personnel of the armies of both countries serve to support peace, security, and stability in the region.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on regional and bilateral cooperation, as well as other issues was held.
