Army championship in volleyball has been started in accordance with the training plan for 2023 approved by the First Deputy Minister of Defense - Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army.
7 teams representing different types of troops and special educational institutions will compete in the championship hosted by the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev.
At the opening ceremony of the championship, the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and Shehids (Martyrs) who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was honoured with observing a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan accompanied by a military orchestra was performed.
On behalf of the leadership of the Defense Ministry speakers wished success to the participants and spoke about the essence of conducting such competitions, stressing that sports are an integral part of combat training.
It should be noted that the army championship in volleyball, run by the international referee brigade of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation will last until November 18.
In the end, the winning teams will be awarded with diplomas, certificates of honour and medals.
