On the initiative of the Ministry of Defense, a meeting was held with the families of shehids (martyrs) on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day.
At first, the participants of the meeting honored the memory of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country with observing a minute of silence. Then the National Anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic was performed.
Deputy Chief of the Main Department for Personnel of the Ministry of Defense – Chief of the Department for Ideological Work and Moral-Psychological Support, Major General Rasim Aliyev speaking at the event noted that the country’s leadership had done a lot of work in strengthening the military power of the country, developing the defense industry, enhancing the combat capability of the army and increasing the moral-psychological state of the military personnel to ensure the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.
“Today in Azerbaijan, along with the strengthening of the defense potential of the country, significant increase in military spending, issues of ensuring reliable social protection for servicemen of the army, solving housing problems, increasing the scale of benefits provided to them are also constantly in the center of attention of the country's leadership. The issues of improving the standard of living of the families of our compatriots who sacrificed their lives in battles to protect the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan are under the constant control of the state”.
The event participants also stressed the high attention and care provided by the state to disabled servicemen, veterans, and families of martyrs of the Karabakh war.
After awarding the participants of the event on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day a photo was taken.
Then the members of the families of martyrs speaking at the event expressed their gratitude to the head of state for the constant care provided to them and expressed their wishes and suggestions for solving a number of issues.
