LIEUTENANT GENERAL
MIRZAYEV HIKMAT IZZAT OGLU
DEPUTY MINISTER OF DEFENSE –
COMMANDER OF THE LAND FORCES
Lieutenant General Mirzayev Hikmat Izzat oglu was born in Bilasuvar city on February 29, 1968.
In 1989, after graduating from the Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School, he began serving as a platoon commander in the Armed Forces of the USSR.
In 1992-1998, he served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a company, battalion, combined special battalion and brigade commander.
In 1997-1998, he studied at the War College of the Land Forces of the Republic of Türkiye.
Since 1999, he served in the Special Forces. Since 2014, he had been appointed to the position of the Commander of the Special Forces.
He participated in military operations for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He has repeatedly been awarded with various awards, orders and medals for the proper performance of his service duties.
He has been awarded with the “Azerbaijan Flag” Order by Presidential Decree dated 01.01.1994, the “For Courage” Medal by Presidential Decree dated 24.06.2003, the Medal for “For Motherland” by Presidential Decree dated 21.06.2007, the Order "For Distinguished Service for Homeland of the 3rd degree" by Presidential Decree dated 24.06.2015, the "Patriotic War Hero" Medal by Presidential Decree dated 09.12.2020, the Medal "For the liberation of Jabrayil" by Presidential Decree dated 24.12.2020, the Medal "For the liberation of Fuzuli" by Presidential Decree dated 25.12.2020, the Medal "For the liberation of Gubadli" by Presidential Decree dated 29.12.2020, the Medal "For the liberation of Shusha" by Presidential Decree dated 29.12.2020, the Medal "For the liberation of Kalbajar" by Presidential Decree dated 29.12.2020, the Medal "For the liberation of Khojavand" by Presidential Decree dated 24.06.2021, the "Karabakh" Order by Presidential Decree dated 07.11.2023.
On 11.01.2024, he has been appointed to the position of the Deputy Minister of Defense – Commander of the Land Forces by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
He is married and has two children.
