SADIKOV NAJMEDDIN HUSEYN OGLU
FIRST DEPUTY MINISTER OF DEFENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN –
CHIEF OF THE GENERAL STAFF OF THE ARMED FORCES
Colonel General Sadikov Najmeddin Huseyn oglu was born in Derbent on 24 May 1956.
He graduated from the Baku Combined Arms Command Higher School in 1979 and earned “Gold medal”.
He served as a platoon commander, company commander, battalion commander and deputy commander of regiment in the USSR Armed Forces for the period from 1979 to 1992.
He graduated from the Frunze Military Academy in Moscow in 1988.
He completed the Higher Officers' Courses "Vystrel" ("Shot") named after Marshal of the Soviet Union B.M.Shaposhnikov in 1991.
Since 1992, he has served as a brigade commander, corps commander as well as the first deputy Front Commander – Head of Front Field Headquarters in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He was engaged in combat operations for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He has received numerous awards and medals for commendable fulfillment of duties. He has been awarded with the “Azerbaijani Flag” Order by Presidential Decree dated 04.04.1995, the Medal “For Motherland” by Presidential Decree dated 24.06.2003, the Medal for Distinguished Service for Homeland by Presidential Decree dated 21.06.2007, the Medal for Distinguished Military Service by Presidential Decree dated 25.06.2009 and the “Azerbaijani Flag” Order by Presidential Decree dated 19.04.2016.
He has been appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Defence – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Presidential Decree dated 02.11.1993.
He has three children.
